A new Nintendo hybrid box was launched on March 3, 2019, and now I’ll tell you everything you need to know before buying a Nintendo Switch.

This box fell into my hands.

What’s inside?
In a nice big box we found a docking station, Joy-Con controllers with holders for them, a power supply, an HDMI cable, the Nintendo Switch itself and instructions for all this.

This is a standard set, but you can buy a lot more interesting things: the Nintendo Switch Pro controller (in many ways similar to the Xbox One gamepad), the Joy-Con charging holder, a cover with a protective film and additional joysticks. And we remind you that in the basic configuration there are no game cartridges.

What is a console? Touch screen, slots for controllers to the right and left of it, several connectors on the upper and lower faces. At the top, you will find the POWER button, volume controls, a standard audio jack, and cartridge slot, at the bottom – a charging slot. Also, the console is equipped with speakers.

Let’s move on to the console itself:

What does the console include? Touch capacitive screen, slots for controllers on both sides of the device, several connectors on the top and bottom of the device. At the top, we see the POWER button, volume controls, a standard headphone jack and a slot for cartridges, below – a plug for charging. The console also has built-in speakers.

On the back cover, there is a slot for memory cards and a retractable stand, thanks to which you do not have to keep the console in your hands all the time. I’ll add from myself that the console is perfectly fixed in an upright position: the foot does not slip and does not allow the screen to fall. Nintendo also thought of a detachable leg so that the stand did not break prematurely so that it would “unfasten” under excessive pressure.

Specifications

The heart of the Switch is the NVIDIA Tegra chip. On different versions of such a system, some smartphones, tablets, and consoles work. Nobody knows which version of the Tegra chip was installed in Switch – as representatives of Nintendo claim, the chip is “custom-designed”. But you should not expect excellent graphic qualities from the game console, because the central and graphics processor of the Nintendo Switch game console is a system designed for mobile devices (phones, tablets, etc.).

But all the same, the performance of the game console is completely enough to display an excellent picture on the screen with a size of 6.2 inches with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. For the reliable autonomous operation of the device, a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 4310 mAh is installed. The manufacturer assures that you can play without recharging for about five hours, and this is quite possible. Unfortunately, if the battery needs to be replaced, you have to contact a Nintendo service center, do not remove the battery from the console with your own hands.

The standard memory capacity is 32 GB. Not very much, and considering that some versions of games can occupy several tens of gigabytes. But it is very good that the amount of available memory can be increased due to micro-SD, micro-SDHC and micro-SDXC cards.

For a wireless connection, there are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. It’s not possible to connect an Internet cable even with the optional dock-like bar, but it is possible to use a LAN adapter – there are not enough USB ports on the same dock-like bar.

Also, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and a brightness sensor were stuffed into the Nintendo Switch. I assume that the latest developers will soon learn how to use it in their games.

Joy-con

What are Joy-Con controllers – these are two small remotes with buttons and levers. The controls for the right and left hand are completely different. Why is that? Yes, because the left joystick is mainly responsible for the movement in the game, and the right – for strokes, jumps, acceleration and camera rotation. On the left, you will find a separate button for creating screenshots, and on the right – the HOME button, which from any game will take you to the menu. Joy-con, I recall, is able to capture the movement of the hands, which is very convenient, for example, during aiming in PUBG.

Here’s Another cool Joy-Con ability – working in different modes. You can pick up the remotes and wave them freely. If you are very afraid of dropping and breaking them, connect the controllers to special laces that will not allow them to slip out of your hands.

And even if you can’t get used to the fact that you don’t have a gamepad in your hands, Nintendo comes to the rescue as they, as a caring mother, created a holder for you in which you can combine two joysticks.

But of course, the coolest joysticks are on the sides of the Switch itself. And don’t worry that they will fly out or slip out of the console, Nintendo has thought everything through! At the back, there are small buttons that need to be clamped and after that, you can unfasten the joystick from the console, which is not so easy!

Thanks for reading the review, all the cool games and success!
P.S.
Nintendo confirms there will be no new Switch models this year =((
